The effect chiefly made up by the dark- and light-coloured tufts of hair. Large posterior part red, email anterior part blue-black. The patterns in flight in the imagos would be different in many cases. In E. jacobcem and A filipendulce a conspicuous but confused mixture of red and black is seen.
