VAN DER VOORT, MINORITY STAFF DIRECTOR TVMV^- Mr. Peter Hovingh Citizens for a Responsible Central Utah Project 721 Second Avenue Salt Lake City, Utah 84103 Dear Mr. Hovingh: Zt-H In accordance with your request, we have scheduled your appearance before the Energy and Water Development Subcommittee on Appropriations for the hearing beginning at 10 AM on March 23 , 1981, in Room 1318 Dirksen Office Building. Because of the limited time available, and the large number of individuals who wish to testify, it is requested that oral testimony be limited to no more than 5 minutes, and if you are accompanied by others, there be one main spokesman for the group. Generally, supporting witnesses should file their prepared statements for inclusion in the printed hearings. To facilitate the Committee's review and reduce printing costs, it is requested that prepared statements, fifteen copies of which should be furnished the Committee three days in advance, be limited to not more than five single-spaced letter-size pages, typed only on one side of each page. It is suggested that the first page include a summary of the request, indicating the project or projects involved and the specific action being proposed to the Committee. A witness list, showing the names and titles of the witnesses to be printed in the hearings, should also be submitted in triplicate. The Committee has received a number of inquiries from individuals and organizations regarding the submission of written statements and testimony in lieu of personal appearances. Therefore, the Committee encourages this and wishes to emphasize that submitted written testimony is fully acceptable and will receive the same, full consideration as oral testimony. During this time of high transportation costs, and other related expenses in traveling to Washington, the Committee encourages all parties to submit written testimony. Sincerely, r Mark 0.
