Show 1 U.S.Fish & Wildlife Service, SLC. They are working on far-reaching planning , in implementing the Clean Water Act and existing legislation, to ultimately protect instream flows. A proposal I make below, stems from discussions on this. State Division of Wildlife Resources. Information allied to that Bill Geer presented to the Governor. I have supplied varying amounts of CUP background and current information to five Conservation Groups. - I coordinate, as does Fred, with Brian Beard, Conservation Chairman, Sierra Club, Logan. We follow-up each other's suggestions. Incidentally, the Sierra Club appears to get more continuing handouts from the Bureau than does CRCUP. At a July, 1978, meeting with the Bureau, we also asked to be kept informed of developments . - Brent Blackwelder, Environmental Policy Center. I have tried to coordinate CRCUP ongoing activities with Fred and with Brent - in order to be effective. Brent now has an intern working on CUP issues. He would appreciate having information on activities , and problems of CRCUP sent him. I have provided a lot of background - letters to Fred and to me from/to the Bureau and to Interior. He is a brilliant source of guidance in the Washington political maze! I have mailed them, also, information on more recent developments relevant to possible re-athorization of the Bonneville Unit. I am clearing , letters to Senators Jackson, and Udall, and to Wisconsin's Congressman Kastenmeier (on Interior Committee) with Brent Blackwelder, inquiring about re-authorization, before mailing.(There are a number of interrelated issues and I'm not sure of the politics ,^: involved.) You will be sent these. these environ- - American Rivers Conservation Council, Howard Brown. We should be more involved with this Group for strategy. I am asking them to mail you: "How to Save Your River - a Citizens Guide to Water Projects". Good information in it. - Brian Beard, Sierra Club, has been in direct contact with EPA, on issues. You should note that I have attempted to systematically lay the groundwork of information on CUP issues to the Administration, Congress, and environmental groups who are responsible for or have a concern for water policy and water project developments. As we proceed, we must keep a network of information and advice going. An up to date tie-in of CRCUP Utah efforts with Washington based activities is essential.lt enables |
