Improved research and monitoring coordination will help managers focus research on critical needs and build GSL information database. DNR will seek funding partnerships with EPA, other agencies and stakeholders. Monitoring and research helps resources managers improve overall management, determine carrying capacities, better understand ecosystem linkages and ecological impacts to ensure ecological and long- term economic sustainability. The planning team identified and prioritized specific monitoring activities based upon the issues identified in this planning process. Potential partners are also identified. Research activities included in this table are not completely fleshed out because these objectives require additional stakeholder, state, university and local, state and federal agency coordination and input.
