Without many of the CHAPTER b THE ROI.E OF PORTABI.E STANDARD LISP IN ASSASSIN PSL is a new LISP being develope5i at the University of Utab and is designed to give a program development environment that has all the advantages of LISPs plus much greater efficiency. PSL is also written in PSL and runs on VA:X and DECSYSTEM-20 computers. A version :1.s underway to run on the b800O-based APOLLO. The SYSLISP level of PSL allows for· the rapid customization and addition of system dependent features. As such, PSL plays an extremely important role in _ the development of this system for describing, functionally simulating and features of a LISP system. and more importantly the PSL system, the speed of deve Lopmerrt of this CAD tool for integrated circuit design would not have been possible. PSL supports an extensive program development environment ranging from text editing capabilities to incremental compilation and definition of system procedures. EMODE, a research project underway using PSL as the implementation environment, was used extensively :in generating the user interface for all phases of this work. It is used -iD edit SICUDL programs, to provide the user interface to the simulator and the compiler as well as to display the Simulation and compilation results to the user. |
