Show context of the overall system, it bas no inherent semantic meaning. to _ Arbitrarily complex boolean state-to-state transitions generation, expressions for controlling and conditional output the control-unit itself. The only input information which has meaning to the control-unit is the sequence of input arrival. SICUDL: Linguistic Description The Speed-Independent Control-Unit Description Language (SCUDL) bas been designed to specify the structure of speed-independent one-hot state-machines. This language was designed with this particular control-unit implementation strategy in mind, but appears to leave ample room for easy extension to include both synchronous and asynchronous control-unit specification. SICUDL was designed to allow for easy and readable design of' control-units. For this reason, it was decided to make it ALGOL-like in syntax. SICUDL must provide for efficient representation of the following elements: - An initial state (home state), - Simple transitions from one state to another (MOVE), _ Transitions from one state to many states (FORK) thereby implementing initiation of concurrently executing control paths, - Transitions from many states to one state (JOIN) thereby implementing termination of concurrently executing control paths, _ Unconditional outputs during occupancy in a state or during a state-to-state transition, _ Conditional outputs during occupancy in a state or during a state-to-state transition, |
