Show *rOne of the highlights of the theatre season this year was the University's production of John Van Druten's comedy, "Old Acquaintance." The play involved two female novelists, friends of a lifetime, and their romantic and emotional entanglements. The old acquaintances were delightfully portrayed by Miss Arlene Francis, in the role of an American novelist whose works were highly admired but seldom bought, and Miss Mary Cooper, who had the part of a very popular novelist whose many books had made her famous. Under the direction of Mr. Robert Hyde Wilson, the production contributed much to the thoroughly enjoyable, season.to life the play's humor and tenderness. Much of the enjoyment was contributed by the three leading characters, Miss Juliet Randall, Mr. Claude Woolman, and Mr. Nicholas Kepros. This difficult production, directed by Dr. C. Lowell Lees, added just the right touch to the very successful season.IIIP;: |
