Show Wlfe of the WinterFour award winning plays headlined this year's Playbox bill of fare. The theatergoing public was introduced for the first time to "Wife of the Winter" by the local playright, Blanche Cannon. Starring Robert Hyde Wilson as the domineering head of a Mormon pioneer family, the play was of particular interest to Salt Lake residents. The Emmy award-winning "Twelve Angry Men," written originally as a television drama, was presented later in the season under direction of Dr. Ralph E. Margetts. The play's concentrated drama is unique and electrifying. John Van Druten's comedy, "Bell, Book, and Candle," directed by Dr. Ralph E. Margetts, added a dash of mysticismand humor to this past year's theatrical presentations. The "Marriage-Go-Round" opened to a warm reception during Spring Quarter. According to Dr. Ralph Margetts the play is "a great spoof, a comedy-farce on marriage and romantic relationships."The Playbox, supervised by Robert Hyde Wilson, is a division of the University of Utah Theater. Dr. C. Lowell Lees is producing director under the administration of the Performing Arts Council.. Unique for its dramatic presentations staged in the theater-in-the-round, the Playbox has been an entertainment medium for many years on campus.Twelve Angry Men |
