Show CMVALCompacted into one night instead of the usual two, and combined with the Snow Carnival to the tune of The Rock and Role Beat of Frantic Feet Crunching Snow, the WRA Carnival made its annual appearance on the Utah cam-pus. Participating organizations worked diligently at constructing and decorating booths and even making pies, cakes, and cookies for the baked goods sale. The carnival itself, supported suprisingly well considering the rather, sparse attendance and enthusiasm of past years, was noisily sparked by Chubby Checker's twist records and shouting midway barkers. The Pi Phi's and Kappa Sig's won the competition with their booth, " 'Whole Lotta Twistin' Goin' On." In addition the Alpha Phi's offered Cork Shooting and gave away stuffed animals, and WRA sponsored sloppy sponge throwing. There was gambling in the Beta Booth and a Peppermint Lounge. Fortunes were told and marriages solemnized. The DG's replaced the old fashioned, long established "Cake Walk" with a "Twist Walk." Everybody won prizes and of course, there was twisting far into the night. |
