Show Jfc*,*m^ACT1^S%-?«-.NTTA banquet and a speech presented by Robert Morris, president of the University of Dallas, marked the finale of 1962 Greek Week. Dr. Morris, past chief counsel for the U.S. Senate Internal Security Subcommittee, contrasted the position of the United States following World War II with its position in the world today. He indicated that the Western World was becoming a minority force while Communism was making continuous progress. He challenged the West to recognize the world situation and said if it did not the heritage of freedom would be lost. Following the lecture trophies were awarded to winners of the Gerek Week competitive events. Chi Omega recieved tophonors for achieving the highest scholastic everage for the sororities for 1960-61. The Chi Omegas also received trophy recognition as their pledge class had the highest grade point average for fall quarter. Sigma Chi received a trophy for top fraternity scholarship, while Sigma Alpha Epsilon received congratulations for the greatest scholastic improvement. Trophies were also presented to winners of the Greek Week Bridge Tournament. Taking first place in the contract style competition was Kappa Sigma. Second place honors went Sigma Pi. Thus came to a close a week during which Greeks mingled in fraternal association. |
