Show A spirited Homecoming Week commenced as Utes inspected the traditional house decorations which depicted this year's theme, "The Alumni and You Combine at the U." Top honors for their creative displays went to Sigma Nu and Alpha Chi Omega.This year's pep rally and annual street dance, the latter hosted by the Pi Beta Phi's and Sigma Nu's, were a great success as avid Ute fans raised the homecoming spirit to a fever pitch as they marched, torches in hand, at the pep rally and and danced jubilantly in the street far into the night.Much of this year's spotlight was centered on the alums. They were given an opportunity, at the Union Open House, to seedisplay tables showing what 1961 Ute organizations were doing. A past publications display gave them a chance to reminisce on days past and see the activity of the present.Homecoming Cavalcade was a brand new addition to the festivities this year. Skits were out, but the six best men's and women's quartets combined "with a fifteen-piece orchestra in a variety show in which Spurs and Sigma Chi copped top honors.Saturday, despite the nipping weather and flying snow, a courageous assembly of royalty, marching bands, and slightly drooping floats rolled down Main Street for the customary Homecoming Parade. Everything but the participants' spirits was damp, but the parade was a fair success.m:v |
