Show The Women's Recreation Association is one of the most active groups on campus. It is open to all interested women students. The group's purpose is to promote fun-filled intramural sports and activities for the women students on the campus, lending fun and interest to all who participate. The group is led by a ten-member board. Each year there are scheduled events in Softball, basketball, tennis, swimming, and golf. There are also co-recreational activities, a special Community Fun Night, and the annual WRA Carnival. WRA awards sweaters and medals based on leadership and participation in WRA activities. The sweater is given to the girl who has had eight quarters of participation and out-standing leadership, while medals are awarded for six quarters of participation.Highlighting this year's WRA activities was an inter-mountain conference of the American Recreational Federation of College Women held on the University campus in the spring. Sports days also afforded a wide variety of fun for athletic minded coeds. In the fall, WRA members participated in a hockey and bowling sports day in Colorado. They also took part in a sports day at Albuquerque, New Mexico where such events as softball, swimming, tennis, archery, bowling and golf were featured. A basketball sports day held at BYU and a volleyball and bowling day hosted on the Ute campus completed the sports day activities. |
