Show Starting the two-day Snow Carnival festivities off with a bang was the W.R.A. Carnival, which was held Friday night. Carnival goers, snow cones in one hand, cotton candy in the other, threw wet sponges, vied for cakes in the cake walk, and participated in the most popular attraction of all, the twist contest. The Pi Phi's and Kappa Sigs walked, or better yet, "twisted' off with first prize in the booth division. Of course, the success of this carnival was the result of hard work teamed with worry. Heading this work and worry detail was Joyce Richards, chairman of the carnival committee. After the carnival, everyone continued twisting late into the night at the carnival dance. The Snow Carnival queen, Mary Brewer, was crowned at this affair.Saturday morning the "Rock and Roll Beat of Frantic Feet Crunching Snow" changed to the Schussing of sliding skis and the pat and scrape of frantic hands sculpturing snow as the ski and snow sculpture contests began.SNOW GAJRlNri\2YIOld Sol had effectively removed most of the snow in the valley, but Aha provided all the "white stuff" needed for the competing organizations to fashion their winter creations. The Delta Phi's and Alpha Phi's took top honors in this field, while the Kappa's and Beta's skied their way to first place in that division. The Beta's and Chi O's won the shoeing contest.106 |
