Definition The use of the names or the influence cf The N a tional Federation of Business and Professional Women's Clubs, Inc., as an organization, or of any officer of the Federation in her official capacity, or the use of the name or influence of any specific units thereof for the purpose of advertising or promoting the sale of any manufactured article, or the endorsing of any business or commercial enterprise, or the distribution of infor mation about or propaganda concerning any organiza tion outside the Federation, or any of its constituent units, shall be deemed commercialism for the purposes of this article. Procedure I Any proposition plan which can be interpreted as coming within the scope of the above definition must have approval of the executive committee. No state federation nor any club shall endorse or promote any plan within the limitations of its own specific boundaries, unless a majority of the executive committee votes that. such action will in no way involve or the National Federation. BPW Action / April 1968 The Commercialism Policy is designed to protect the and prestige of the National Federation from name exploitation at any level-Club, district, state or Na tional. In particular, Federation policy: ( 1) Prohibits endorsement of any product or service through news or advertising media by: ( a) Use of the name of any specific unit of the Federation-club, district, state or National; (b) Use of the name or official title of any member, staff member or consultant. ( 2) Prohibits the release of membership lists of any club, district, state federation or the National Federation. Any exception to these particulars must have the approval of the National executive committee. Re quests from clubs or districts for an exception shall be signed by the president and recording secretary and submitted to the state federation; the state executive committee shall then attach and submit committee. the request to a statement of its views the National executive 8·13 |
