A.}) 0 r r ED by the NATIONAL LEGISLATIVE PLATFORM COMvfITTEE LEGISLATIVE PURPOSES: To elevate standards for the 1. employed woman, to promote her interests, to create a spirit of cooperation, to expand opportunities through industrial, scientific and vocational activities, to secure equal consideration under the law and to establish conditions which assure both men and women the fullest opportunity and reward for the development of their capacities to maximum potential. 2. To consider the place and responsibility of the employed woman as concerned citizen in the complex democratic society of the United States, and to strengthen the role of this nation in world affairs. a ACTION ITEMS: Item 1. Propose and support legislation to amend the Constitution of the United States and to provide equality of rights under the law to men and women. Item 2. Propose and support: (a) legislation in the field of em ployment which provides UQiform laws and regulations for men and women as to working conditions, rates of pay, and equal employment opportunity; and (b) uniform legislation for men and women in the Item 3. areas of taxation and retirement. Propose and support legislation to provide for uniform jury service and uniform qualifications in the selection of men and women to serve on grand or petit juries in any court. POLl ex ITEM: Support measures wthin the frame work of the Constitution of the United States that promote peace and strengthen: national security, and to strengthen and make effective the United Nations and such other international organizations of which the United States is a participant without reliquish ment of our basic freedoms. : I |
