JUNE 7. 1968 LEGISLATIVE PURPOSES: 1. To elevate standards for the employed woman. to promote her interests, to create a spirit of eoopera tion. to expand opportunities through industrial. scientific and vocational activities, to secure equal consid eration under the law and to establish conditions which assure both men and 1r10men the fullest opportunity and rel.zard for the of their development capacities to maximum potential. AerIOl\! ITENS: 1. Propose and support legislation to provide equality of rights under the atv. to men and women, (a) by seeking removal of so called "protective" legislation "vhich obstructs equality for women in the field of employment. (b) 2. strengthen existing legislation in the field of employment which provides uniform 1a.tvS and regulations for men and women as to working conditions, rates of pay, and equal employment opportunity. To Propose and support legislation to amend the Constitution of the State of provide a more equitable method of selecting members of a jury, consideration to the use of registered voter giving rolls, ratber than Utah to tax rolls. 3. To support legislation to repeal Sections 75-3-17 and 75-4-5 utah Code Annotated 1953 which limit the right of a married WOFAn to serve as an executrix or administratrix. Both saeions should be repealed. POLICY ITEE: 1. 2. Suppor a resolution for a Constitutional Amendment to provide tha.t the Utah Legislature convene each year. Support legislation to increase salar,y of utah Legislators to a degree required of them, thus to qualifications to seek such office. commensurate ith the time and service encourage persons with the highest |
