The Ute Mountain council is opposed to renewing the lease or leasing it to the Navajos. Recommends, however, that land be leased rather than money be spent to take care of it. Paris, Albuquerque Expresses regret that he was unable to attend Monticello meeting and further disapproves of its resulting decision to move Paiutes and Utes from Blanding area to reservation. Mormon residents of Blanding are willing for Indians to take allotments on public land near Blanding. Jan. 29, 1931 Peacore, E. J., Supt., Con. Ute Agency Letter to Commissioner of Indian Affairs States that the Ute Mountain Utes are the most backward of any he knows. Complains that it takes days to work to get them to agree to anything.
