Ute Agency He expresses sympathy for the death of Ignacio's daughter and reports that Patoah has died after a short sickness. Three Southern Utes have arrived at the agency and say the road is safe to travel. Oct. 12, 1886 Piah(?), Ouray Agency Letter to Ignacio, et al, So. Ute Agency Piah(?) reports that his wife has died. ( text is difficult to read) May 4, 1887 Taylor, John, Interpreter, So. Ute Agency List of Ute Chiefs Who Verify Enrollment Nine Southern Ute Chiefs and Headmen give their mark to verify the enrollment of additional tribal members. Attached is list of nine newly enrolled members, listed by name, age, and sex. FRCD/ RG 75 June 17, 1889 (?), Acting Commissioner of Indian Affairs Letter to Thomas McCunniff, Indian Agent, So. Ute Agency The acting commissioner responds to McCunniff's request to add the names of twelve persons to the agency rolls. He states that since these people have never been enrolled they were not party to the 1880 agreement and may be included as tribal members only if the tribes occupying the reservation agree to it.
