F., Acting Commissioner Letter to Stephen Abbot Notes that approval had been received to pay the Ute Indians the remainder of the $ 100,000 appropriated by Congress. Ute 210 Apr. 13, 1913 Davis, Chas., Supt., Uintah & Ouray Agency Letter to Commissioner of Indian Affairs Discusses use of interest payments on $ 3,305,257.19 fund, granted to Con. Bands of Ute Indian by Court of Claims on Feb. 13, 1911. He believes per capita payment doesn't aid Utes toward self- supporting status. He examines needs of Utes in Uintah & Ouray, Navajo Springs, and So. Ute agencies, including concerns for efficient housing, tendency toward disease, and economical use of land. Utes would lose preferential water rights by July, 1919, unless allotted lands are cultivated. Acreage of land and nature of allottees described.
