Ute Agency Letter to Commissioner of Indian Affairs The agent sends to the commissioner an article from the Durango Herald entitled " The Southern Utes not to Blame." Bands of Navajo and Ulains (?) are killing of game and " causing cattle in large numbers to leave the mountains." Copy of article is attached to letter. E.(?), Indian Agent, Navajo Agency Letter to Charles Bartholomew, Indian Agent, Ignacio, Colorado Vandever assures Bartholomew that he will do all he can to assure that Indians in his charge stay on the reservation. He asks Bartholomew to arrest any Navajo Indians found in his area and return them to the Navajo Agency, where they will be appropriately punished. FRCD/ RG 7 5 Dec 11, 1889 Morgan, T. Ute and Jicarilla Agency The commissioner advises Bartholomew to comply with the Navajo Agency request that he arrest any Navajo Indians that are on the So.
