He also mentions Utes aggrieved by the Brunot agreement. Utes are disturbed by settlers in the Uncompahgre Park region. S. S. # 1749 Mar. 16, 1878 Weaver, F. H., Agent, So. Ute Agency Letter to E. A. Hoyt, Commissioner Agent reports number of Indians that reported to his agency on two separate dates. List is broken down in four categories. Sept. 9, 1879 Eastman, Galen, U. S. Indian Agent Letter to Agent of the Ute Indians, Colorado Letter reporting the complaint of Julian, brother of the Chief Indian of the Navajos, that Tudocose, a Ute, shot an arrow at him without cause or provocation. Julian requests redress, as was done in a previous case, and Eastman requests the Ute Agent to respond to Julian's request so the Indians will have " power and confidence" in the agents. Ute Colorado Letter seeking Page's help in resolving the matter of a Ute Indian shooting at Julian, a Navajo. Eastman hopes the matter can be settled by the agents in a peaceable way so that the Indians will not " seek revenge & redress according to former barbarian usages and butcher each other."
