Show Land - 420 The commissioner forwards a copy of the letter sent to Commissioner Meredith H. Kidd, dated April 20, 1895, re: the allotment of land. A surveyor is to be hired, with Indian assistants, to aid in the process. July 30, 1895 Browning, D. M., Commissioner Memorandum Memo instructing the return of a letter from David Day, So. Ute Agent, with the remark that the Indians he named are Uncompahgre Utes and, therefore, not entitled to allotments on the Southern Ute Reservation. Aug. 29, 1895 Browning, D. M., Commissioner Letter to David F. Day, So. Ute Commissioner Browning denies Day's request for a copy of the letter Commissioner Kidd sent to the Office dated June 4th, 1895. The reasons for the denial are that the recommendations were not acted upon and that the contents have no " bearing upon the Southern Ute question in its present state."
