Show Hunting and Fishing - 355 July 7, 1879 Brooks, E. J., Acting Commissioner Letter to Henry Page, Indian Agent, So. Ute Agency Brooks responds to informations that about 30 members of the Moache band are returning to Cimarron to hunt. He reminds Page that the Utes agreed to leave that area and the most strengent measures must be taken to prevent them from returning. July 17, 1887 Armstrong, L. M., Galtie, Colorado Letter to C. F. Stollsteimer, Indian Agent, Ignacio Utes have returned from successful hunting trip. Two Utes have started for the Blue Mountains. Everything else is normal. FRCD/ RG 75 Apr. 11, 1889 Davidson, W. M.(?), River View, San Juan Co., Utah Letter to Agent, Southern Ute Agency, Ignacio Davidson informs the agency that " the Utes are heading for Los Pinos & are trying themselves this Spring just to see how mean & saucy they can be." He requests the agent's help in returning the Utes to their reservation. FRCD/ RG 75 Sept. 24, 1889 Morgan, T. J., Commissioner of Indian Affairs Telegram to Bartholomew, Agent, Ignacio Agent is not to grant Indian permit to hunt off the reservation. More information will be mailed. Sept. 25, 1889(?) Commissioner of Indian Affairs Letter to Agent, So. Ute Agency The commissioner responds to Bartholomew's request that the So. Utes be granted permission to leave their reservation for the purpose of hunting. |
