Ute Agency Letter to Commissioner of Indian Affairs Investigation of San Juan, Utah, citizens' complaint that Utes and Navajos were trespassing and killing livestock of white settlers, has no merit. Ute Agency Letter to Albert McClurg, Colorado Springs Smith responds to McClurg• s request that some Utes be sent to him ( the purpose is not clear in the document). Smith comments that six Arapahoe Indians are visiting the agency. Apr. 30, 1902 Smith, Joseph 0., Indian Agent, So. Ute Agency Letter to George W. Hayslett, Indian Agent, Fort Defiance, Arizona Smith informs the agent that several Navajo Indians have settled on the Southern Ute Reservation and intend to construct houses and plant crops.
