Show Land - 423 May 4, 1899 Pray, G. B., Special Agent in Charge Letter to the Commissioner of Indian Affairs Ignacio is asking for funds from sale of homestead. Ignacio wants to buy sheep and goats. S., agencies, tribes occupying or belonging to the reservations, area of each reservation ( unallotted) in acre or square miles, and reference to treaty, law, or other authority by which the reservations were established. S. S. # 4290/ p. 654- 655 Feb. 12, 1901 Statements by Tapuche and Severo Tapuche and Severo testify that Severo was appointed Chief of the Capotes after the death of Tabewats in 1889. Severo was present and took part in the deliberations for the agreement to take lands in severalty. Apr. 30, 1902 Smith, Joseph O., Indian Agent, So. Ute Agency Letter to George W. Hayslett, Indian Agent, Fort Defiance, Arizona Smith informs the agent that several Navajo Indians have settled on the Southern Ute Reservation and intend to construct houses and plant crops.
