He requests that troops be sent in to remove Indians immediately. NA/ RG 75 Nov. 28, 1894 Major General, Acting Secretary of War Letter to Secretary of the Interior Secretary is informed of potential trouble from Indians from the Southern Ute Reservation who have moved to San Juan County, Utah. NA/ RG 75 Nov. 29, 1894 McCook, Commanding Telegram to Adjutant General, U. S. Army, Washington, D. C. Agent Day reports to General McCook the facts of Southern Ute dispute. He states action by War Department is unnecessary for the present. NA/ RG 75 Nov. 30, 1894 West, Governor of Utah Telegram to Secretary of the Interior Governor West states Agent Day report on conditions in San Juan is incorrect and requests troops be sent to prevent any trouble from starting. NA/ RG 75 Dec. 4, 1894 Day, David F., Agent, Southern Ute Agency Letter to Commissioner of Indian Affairs Brigham Young, Jr. agrees with Agent Day that troubles in southern Utah are the result of the cowboys and the renegade Indians, that Southern Utes with some exception cause no problems.
