Show Inter- Tribal Relations - 381 Dec. 21, 1923 McKean, E. E., Supt., Con. Ute Agency Letter to Commissioner of Indian Affairs Reports visit with Kneale at Shiprock Agency regarding problems with Navajo stock trespassing. Met with the offending Navajos and some Utes and worked out compromise. Navajos can stay along the Mancos Creek until such time as the Utes need the land, then they will have to move. Since then there have been no problems and the Navajos even send their children to the Ute Mountain School. NA/ RG75/ 76134- 1923/ Con Ute 301 Jan. 23, 1924 Burke, Chas H., Commissioner Letter to Albert H. Kneale Has received letter from E. E. McKean regarding Navajo stock trespassing on Ute Mountain Reservation. The problems had been resolved. Advises Kneale to do everything possible to maintain amicable relations. Ute Agency Acknowledges report that the difficulties between the Indians of the San Juan and Ute Mountain reservation have been adjusted. The office appreciates the satisfactory adjustment of the matter. NA/ RG75/ 76134- 1923- Con Ute 301 (?), 1925 Burke, Chas. H., Commissioner of Indian Affairs Letter to Edward E. McKean States that a letter soliciting questions from the Native American Church has been sent to Indians on the Ute Mountain Reservation. Wants steps taken to discourage use of peyote.
