Show Inter- Tribal Relations - 366 Letter to Bowman, John H. , Indian Agent, Navajo Agency Patten responds to Bowman's letter of Aug. 26, 1884. He says that Navajo Indians often visit the So. Ute Reservation. ( Most of letter is unreadable.) FRCD/ RG 75 July (?), 1884 Patten, Warren, Indian Agent, So. Ute Agency Price, H., Commissioner of Indian Affairs Patten informs the commissioner that a fight between cattlemen and Indians has occurred, with two Indians dead and two white men wounded. He says that Chief Ignacio says the Utes were not involved, that the guilty Indians are renegade Piutes who have committed depredations in the Blue Mountains that have been attributed to So. Utes and Navajo. Patten says that if the Utes are off the reservation it is because there are no provisions for them at the agency. FRCD/ RG 75 Mar. 25, 1884 Patten, Warren, Agent, So. Ute Agency Letter Major Hall, Ft. Lewis, Colorado Patten requests to be officially informed of complaints that Navajos are raiding cattle. Aug. 26, 1884 Bowman, John H., Indian Agent, Navajo Agency Letter to Warren Patten, Indian Agent, So. Ute Agency, Ignacio, Colorado Bowman complains that Ute Indians are in the habit of coming on the Navajo reservation and causing problems.
