Jan. 20, 1904 Asst. Commissioner of Indian Affairs Letter to Jos. O. Smith, Supt., So. Ute Agency Smith directed re: guidelines for types of material to be sent to exhibit at government building in St. Louis. Material to include photos, school- room papers and needlework, as well as basic items indicating past and present lifestyle of Indians. Exhibit to suggest progress of Indian life over 100 years due to government supervision. Aug. 1, 1904 Peterson, W. M., Supt., Ft. Lewis School Letter to T. M. Patterson, Denver, Co. Peterson invites Senator Patterson to visit the Agency and witness the condition of the Utes. Travel directions from Denver to Mancos included Mar. 3, 1905 Peterson, W. M., Supt. Letter to Commissioner of Indian Affairs Received letters concerning proposition of moving unallotted Utes belonging to Navajo Springs Agency to some unoccupied land on the Dolores River. Agent has not talked officially with the Utes about this transfer. Will report as soon as meeting has taken place. |
