Show Financial Affairs - 289 the Utes recorded. Written in response to Office letter, April 30, 1913. May 20, 1913 Supt., So. Ute Agency Letter to Chas. Davis, Supt., Uintah & Ouray Agency Supt. favors Davis' plan for use of tribal funds, and details conditions on the reservation, including use of livestock, water rights status, buildings and general projects. The Supt. describes reimbursement system of harvest grain for seed grain, and annuity cash for farm stock and equipment. Ute Agency Letter to Commissioner of Indian Affairs The superintendent describes living conditions on the reservation and explains the difficulty in trying to motivate the Indians to work for their rations. He recommends that rations and annuities continued to be disbursed without the work requirement as the Indians have responded to the work plan with the remark " we dont want to work for what the government owes us and are not going to."
