Show 1% Salt Lake City on March 16, 1954, were conducted in Kingsbury Hall on March 19, 1954, and were attended by a very large number of students, faculty, and friends. The speakers paid tribute to Dean Ballif for his outstanding services to the University as Dean of Men, teacher, and the many other capacities in which he served on the campus. President Olpin also reported that he had sent a letter of condolence to the family on behalf of the University. Letters have been received from the President of the Associated Students, University of Utah, and members of the University‘s official family recommending that the new Men's Dormitory be named after the Dean. The President explained that if this is done, it will undoubtedly encourage subscriptions for furnishings and equipment for the project, He also reported that the Inter-Collegiate Knights, a campus student service organization, has established a scholarship in Dean Ballif‘s honor. The President reported that he is, in receipt of a letter from the Department of State, Washington, D. C, informing him that Dr, Quintus C. Wilson, head of the Department of Journalism,» has, been DR. QUINT US WILSON RECIPIENT OF FULBRIGHT SCHOLARSHIP selected to receive an award under the Fulbright Act for the purpose of pursuing research in Journalism |
