| Abstract |
This collection contains bound volumes of minutes of the Board of Regents meetings, including accompanying materials, such as contracts, correspondence, meeting minutes of subordinate committees, and faculty newsletters. The Board of Regents historically served as the governing body of the University of Utah. In 1969 the name was changed to the Institutional Council (the State Board of Higher Education later adopted the name of State Board of Regents). In 1991 the Institutional Council became the current Board of Trustees. |

PRESIDENT‘S REPORT President Olpin reported briefly on his trip to Washington, D. C. and to Chicago» Illinoisg where he met with the Executive Committee of the State Uni- versity Association to discuss programs concerned EASTERN TRIP with a merger of the National Association of State Universities and the Association of Land Grant Colleges MEETINGS OF STATE UNIVERSITY and Universities. He also helped formulate plans for the PRESIDENTS meeting of the National Association of State Universities in Salt Lake City, May 3 and 4, Many requests have been received from high schools for University faculty members to talk to their students about college training, facilities, and prospects for those desiring higher educational advantages. The President read a letter from Sir Alexander LE TTERS FROM SIR ALEXANDER FLEMMING Fleming expressing gratitude for the many courtesies shown him and Lady Fleming during their recent visit to Utah. Sir Fleming was awarded an honorary degree of Doctor of Science at the Spring Commencement held on Saturday, March 27, 1954,, FUNERAL SERVICES FOR DEAN JOHN L.
