Show 16 Chairman O'Connor stated that immediately upon receipt of this letter President Olpin had called him in relation thereto, following which he had communicated with Governor Lee. This conference with the Governor resulted in a decision to allow the University and the State a month in which to study the matter. Subsequently a letter was sent by Mr. Moffat, dated July 1, 1953, as follows: July 1, 1953 Mr. Leon D.- Garrett Secretary and Controller University of Utah Salt Lake City, Utah Dear Mr. Garrett: It is requested that you ignore my letter of June 26, 1953, wherein l informed you that Governor Lee had revised your fiscal year "Work Program" for the period beginning July 1, 1953 and ending June 30, 1954. In a communication of June 30, 1953, the Governor instructed me to inform your Institution that he will approve your July allotment as requested in your work program, but before granting approval to succeeding months, he wants to meet with you to work out reduced allotments for the remainder of the year. .
