Show Inter- Tribal Relations - 363 Dec. 24, 1879 Mitchell, E. R. Letter to (?) Mitchell, resident near the San Juan River, Utah, reports an Indian threatened to kill him and his cattle if he did not leave the area. The Indian told him his homestead was on Navajo land and he was intruding, ( text is difficult to read) June 9, 1881 Page, Henry Letter to U. S. (?) Agent, Tierra Amarilla (?) Page informs the agent that Ignacio has gone to Tierra Amarilla to look for a lost horse, but Page believes another reason might exist. He asks to agent to investigate the matter and report to him. June 15, 1881 Jones, W. B., Farmer in Charge, Abiquia Agency, Tierra Amarilla, N. M. Letter to Henry Page, Agent, So. Ute Agency Jones responds to Page's inquiry about the activities of Ignacio, who has visited the Abiquia Agency- Ignacio visited with Mr. Burns about a trade of horses and casually met with several Navajos near the issue room. Jones anticipates no trouble. July 1, 1881 Page, Henry, Agent, So. Ute Agency Letter to Commissioner of Indian Affairs Page informs the commissioner of the events surrounding the murder of two white men. Southern Ute and Pah Utes were accused of the murders and citizens attempted to avenge the deaths.
