Edwin T. Wolverton testified on recross examination as follows: 5422 I would judge that the building stone I spoke of at the junction of the Green and Colorado rivers would weigh about one hundred and forty- five pounts per cubic foot. In response to questions propounded by the Special Master Mr. Wolverton testified as follows: 5423 My ranch had been occupied before I went there. The Wheeler ranch, now know as the Wimmer ranch, is just above my 5424 ranch. We carried small ticks, willows, with which to sound the river, and in the photograph 9, to which you call attention, is shown a sounding pole; that is Mr. Wheeler poling. We used a pole only to ascertain the depth of water when navigating the boat. Edwin T. Wolverton testified on redirect examination as follows: 5425 When I spoke of the river backing up, I meant that a partial dam was formed, so that we could observe that the progress of the stream above was slower. George H. Dern testified for defendant on direct examination as follows: 5379 I am Governor of the States of Utah, serving my second term 5380 as such and reside in Salt Lake City. On one occasion I made a boat trip on the lower Colorado River, beginning that trip at the mouth of Crescent Wash, two miles below the lower end of Cataract Canyon, and going thence to Lee's Ferry Arizona.
