Show Record The big boat was built in 1925 for the purpose of hauling 5055 the oil well supplies for the Midwest Exploration Company. Our company had been in the freighting business prior to that time for ten years; always with automobiles. We had not handled any freight won the river prior to the building of the boat. We contracted to haul down 500 tons at $ 1.25 from Thompson Springs. Prior to 1925 we had one Evinrude boat there that we used 5056 for pleasure and to cross the river. After we got the contract to haul down the oil well equipment, we bought either three or four trucks. We used the trucks for general freight hauling to Moab, Monticello, LaSal and points in be-ween. And we are still using those trucks for that purpose. I have never seen the document marked complainant's Exhibit 632. The rates are about the same as we charge. I know nothing about filing the document with the Public Service Commission. I did not have anything to do with the bookkeeping end of it. The Special Master: I understand one of the Denver witnesses to say that they did not have to file any rates for water carriers. Counsel for complainant: That is correct. This document 5058 contains things other than that. Complainant's Exhibit No. 632, being schedule of rates filed with the Public Utilities Commission of Utah by the Moab Garage Company in 1926, was received in evidence. We transport very little freight to Greenriver. We do not run any regular truck to Greenriver. We go up there and get a load of coal oil once in a while. Between Moab and Greenriver we haul some coal oil once in a while and a little feed. Sometimes we get in a carload of feed at Greenriver and bring a truck load to Moab. We would probably get a load of coal oil once a month and I have hauled a couple of truck loads of feed between those points this fall. If it is for our own use we do not make a rate, just transport it from one garage to the other. We maintain a garage at Greenriver. We have transported freight from Thompson to the mine in 752 |
