Show Record easy to handle. Going down there were four men besides the women. 4226 Coming back there were three men. On the way back we struck the 4227 usual number of sand bars and worked through. I took a trip from Wolverton's ranch to Greenriver in the boat named the Wilmont. That was a round- bottom boat, 27 feet long and 6 feet beam, with a 4 horse- power gas engine. Going up there 4229 we had to help the boat over the riffles, get out and pull it. I made a trip on the boat named " Marguerite" on the Green River from Wimmer's ranch to Greenriver Town. On the first trip we broke the paddle wheel shaft and then floated back to Wimmer's ranch, rapaired 4230 the boat and later made the trip to Greenreiver. I cannot remember just what trouble we had. I made a trip on the Marguerite from Greenriver to the junction of the Green and the Grand. It is stipulated that Mr. Ross'es testimony on the trip will be substantially the same as the 4231 testimony of other witnesses relating there to. I made a trip in October, 1915, on the Marguerite from Greenriver to Cataract Bottom and return with Dr. Middleton and a number of others. Going down we had the usual fair trip, had good clear sailing between the sand bars. We had a good trip coming back, that is, as good as we ever expected. We got wet once in a while 4232 shoving off, but all for fun. From my experience on the Green River, sometimes I can pick the deepest water with accuracy, other times it is impossible. At certain stages of the water, different heights of the sand bars, a man that is accustomed to sand bars on the river can distinguish the line of a sand bar under water, although it is 6, 8, 10 or 12 inches under the water. There is always a little break in the water on the surface. A person would not notice that unless he was ex-perionced. It is easier to find the channel very late in the season during the months of October and November, then the water is more 4233 confined.
