Show Record from a reservoir site on the Dolores River. I am also familiar with the areas of land above Bluff on the San Juan River and its tributaries that are irrigated by 5154 the waters of the San Juan and its tributaries. I have checked my general knowledge of those lands with official records. I have with me copies of official records furnished me by the of-ficials of Colorado and New Mexico. The officers of the County Assessor of the various counties have the records of the amount of land farmed, and the division engineer for District No. 7 of Colorado has a list of the lands cultivated. All of the irrigated lands of the San Juan and its tributaries in Colorado are located within District No. 7. In New Mexico I obtained my data from the records of the County assessor of San Juan County, New Mexico. All of the lands irrigated from the San Juan River and its tributaries in New Mexico 5155 are within San Juan County. There is not in New Mexico and officer similar to the district engineer of Colorado. I have prepared a map showing the facts concerning which I have just testified. The map shows all of the principal tribu-tarries of the San Juan River lying above Bluff. The map does not extend a great distance west of Bluff. The map marked defendant's Exhibit No. 28, is the map 5156 I prepared. The heavy red line around and enclosing the areas colored brown and green and yellow indicate the exterior boundaries of the drainage into the San Juan River, that is, the areas beginning a little west of the 110th meridian. The area colored brown represents the approximate area of timber land cut over, that is, where the timber has been cut. All of the dates of locations and installation of the larger saw mills that did the cutting are indicated on the map. The area colored green represents the approximate location of farm lands actually irrigated from the San Juan and its 5157 tributaries. |
