Show Record purpose of storing goods that were to be brought up the Colorado 4294 by steamers to that point. The warehouse was located 7 miles East of Vegas Wash, or about 2 or 3 miles below the end of Boulder Canyon, Nevada. 4294 to Complainant offers in evidence Exhibits 620 to 626 4305 inclusive, being typewritten excerpts prepared by Frederick S. Dellenbaugh from records of the Mormon Church in Salt Lake City, Utah. Exhibit 620 relating to settlement of the San Juan region in and about Bluff. Exhibit 621 relating to the settlement of the Kanab region in southern Utah. Exhibit 622 relating to the exploration of southern Nevada. Exhibit 623 relating to the expedition to the Colorado River, Call's Landing, Nevada, between England, Australia, San Francisco and Salt Lake City. Exhibit 624 relating to the exploration of southern Nevada, St. George Stake. Exhibit 625 relates to the settlement of Moab in the year 1855. Exhibit 626 relating to the exploration of southern Nevada, years 1855 to 1865, Las Vegas Mission. They are transcripts made by me from the original Church records of settlement. They show exactly the records from which taken. They pertain to the settlement of the region more than to any navigation. Counsel for defendant: I wish to reserve the right to make any objection. The Special Masters: So far as the documents contain facts bearing upon the settlement of the regions, or so far as they contain facts bearing upon the physical navigation of the river, of course, that would be relevant evidence, and the only question would be as to the form of proof. I think the best thing to do is for me not to pass on these matters now, but to give counsel for defendant ample opportunity to read the testimony and call such |
