Show Record Canyon of the Colorado and others. As to the scenic value of the San Juan between Chinle Creek and the mouth of the San Juan, I think it is the scenic sec tion of the West, of the Pacific slope. 4552 The section of the Colorado from Hite down is very scenic. I have been on the rim along Cataract Canyon and have looked down and seen the cataract canyon from the rim. That section is also very scenic. From Hite down there is not a trail all the way. There are a great many places where we come in and follow along for miles, and then there are places where you must got around a certain canyon 4553 and come in again. I have knowledge of the recent interest in the Zion's Park section and the North Rim of the Grand Canyon and the various other scenic attractions that have been developed in the West dur-ing the past few years. All we need in the San Juan section and the lower Colorado River section to attract tourists travel is more advertising. I think that travel in and out of those sections would be a profitable, 4554 commercial proposition with reasonable advertising. I do not lose any money on my expeditions. As to the mineralized area in that section of the country, I have personal knowledge of substantial showings of copper in white Canyon and in Copper Canyon. There is quite a wide zone of mineral-ization through there. I also know of a substantial amount of timber in the Elk Ridge and Blue Mountain sections, and large areas of grazing and dry farming lands in San Juan County.
