H. woods testified on re- cross examination as follows: 4510 I do not know how many farms there were in San Juan County in 1920. I would say that 405 would be very low. Complainant offers in evidence page 13 of the Fourteenth Census of the United States for the year 1920. The Special Master: If that is used in asking the witness these last questions, I think it is proper to have it marked. The court will take judicial notice of the United States Census: The Witness: I do not know of any later document gotten out by the county similar to defendant's Exhibit 14. Anna M. Bayles testified for defendant on direct examination as follows: 4512 I reside in Salt Lake City. I first went to Bluff, San Juan County, Utah, in 1888 and lived there steadily for nine years. While there I worked in the San Juan Co- op three different times as clerk. I do not remem-ber the dates. I worked for a year steady at one time and twice after that at different times. I remember the gold placer mining 4514 boom on the San Juan. I was working in the store at that time. I remember three boats that were built there at Bluff and taken down to the river on the road going south. While I was there I sold supplies to the miners many, 4515 many times. I know the miners bought supplies and took them down in boats. I went down to the river and saw the boats on the river. I have a picture showing boats on the river. The site of the picture, 653 1774 |
