Show Record H. C. Perkins testified on cross examination as follows: I think 10 to 12 inches of rain fall is required for dry farming. I have been up and down the San Juan River from Bluff to the mouth of the river at different points. To my knowledge the river is not wider at Piute Farms than at Bluff. It has been probably ten or fifteen years since I was at Piute Farms. My last time there was after the flood of 1911. H. C. Perkins testified on re- direct examination as follows: 4394 As to the times I have crossed the San Juan River, some of them were with cattle and some on horseback. I was born at Bluff and I used to cross the river several times a year. 4395 Counsel for complainant stipulates with counsel for defendant that Mr. Dan Perkins, if called to testified for defendant, would testified substantially as did Mr. G. W. Perkins, and that such testimony may be considered of the same force and effect as if he had testified personally. 4396 A. S. Woods testified for defendant on direct examination as follows: I reside at Monticello, Utah. I am fifty- three. I went into at the San Juan country as a boy and first lived at Bluff, Utah. I moved from Bluff in 1905. I have been in the cattle business all my life. 4397- 4398 I recall the years when there was an unusual gold excitement on the San Juan. As a boy I saw miners on the San Juan River in their boats. During those early days I remember seeing a number of boats on the river at different places. Some of them were being moved up and down the river and some of them were stationed on the side of the river. I recall two instances where the boats were taken and put on the river at Bluff, and I have seen the miners go down stream in their boats. I have seen a number of miners on the 4399 river in their boats at Comb Wash, Gable Camp and in the Mexican Hat 632 |
