Show Larson Snatches Ball in Flighty Pass UTAH 53, 37 U. S. A. C. 58, 50 Unable to equal their magnificent game of Friday, and disheartened by the loss of that contest, a crippled crew of Redskins proved little opposition for the flying Aggie quintet in the second night encounter and returned from Logan February 2nd with hopes for a championship dismally shattered. A sensational driving game, with altitudinous Orlo Childs the outstanding man on the floor, kept the Crimson in the lead throughout most of the opening tilt, but brilliant work in the fading seconds by the fighting Aggie team forced the battle into overtime. Big Ed Wade, gangling guard, led the furious extra session attack, as the Utes finally fell behind, 58-53. Guarding Childs effectively in the second fray, A. C. featured a baffling passing attack, and a deadly first half drive, pushed to a 50-37 triumph. Although play was noticeably ragged, brilliant performances were not lacking. Ryan and Petty for the blue and white; Callis and Larsen for Utah played spectacular ball. STEWART PENDLETON Stew adapted himself to the college style with unusual rapidity. His deliberate and timely scoring pulled the Utah team over the hump in several games. HOWARD BERG "Howdy" was the team's utility member being capable to play any position with almost inconceivable ability. The gangling reserve will bear watching next year. WALTER BOLIC After a year's inactivity Walt came back to the Crimson threshold. His superb defensive performances will long be remembered and appreciated by casaba followers. Two Hundred Seventy |
