Show MUSIC Murray Bywater Manager As representative of the Music Council in all its business arrangements, Murray Bywater actively contributed to the success of the Music Department. Having been assistant manager for two years, and active in the Glee Club, he was well gualified to manage the opera and other m"jsic activities, doing so with much success. y^l/lu,ic ~onneil In its official capacity of regulating and supervising all activities of the Music Department, the Music Council showed splendid cooperation and as a result produced most interesting and active musical societies. The Council was composed this year of Professor Arthur Freber, assisted by Professor Thomas Giles, head of the music department, and included Jeanette Clawson, Marjorie Batie, Patricia McOwen, and Murray Bywater, student representatives. Through a larger appropriation from the A.S.U.U. and a redistribution of funds among the groups, grand opera was presented for the first time in four years. To replace the Ladies' Double Quartette of former years, Professor Giles organized the "Nonette," as unique and entertaining a group as the name itself, which made twenty-six public appearances, both independently and with the glee clubs. The Girls' Glee club this year was larger and presented a greater number of renditions than ever before. Under the supervision of the Council, the Men's Glee club concentrated their activities on local presentation; the String 'Quartette was developed into one of the finest of its kind, and the band and orchestra became more active than previously.
