Show DEBATE Coach Bane in supervising the women's debating activities obtained a similar degree of success as he did with the men teams. His recent election to the presidency of both the Rocky Mountain Forensic Conference and the Utah-Idaho Junior College Forensic League demonstrates the esteem in which he is held by his fellow coaches. Laverne Bane Coach Engaging in one of the busiest forensic programs in Utah history, an unusually well-balanced women's squad maintained the high standards of debating characteristic of university forensic artists. The women opened their season by participating in their division of the Western States Speech tournament, placing high in the field of twenty teams. Oregon style, cross-examination type, non-decision debates were held with the visiting women's teams from the universities of Cincinnati and Colorado, respective champions in the midwest and Colorado. Against the women's teams of the Utah State Agricultural College and the Brigham Young University, the university squad again demonstrated their superiority in the State Debate Triangle. They also competed in the Utah-Idaho tournament where Julia Brixen won the championship in the extempore contest. The annual spring tour of Wyoming and Colorado was taken by Elma Skelton and Florence Gubler who debated in a highly commendable manner at the Colorado State College and at the universities of Wyoming, Denver, and Colorado. The debate members were: Florence Gubler, manager, Elma Skelton, Esther Rueckerf, Julia Brixen, Marjorie Evans, Raedell Evans, Florence Sneddon, Helen Richards, Blanche Lallis, Myra Hunter, Ruth Davis, and Ruth Spencer.
