Show Pugh Leads Rinaldi Past Aggie Back-field UTAH 14 UTAH STATE 7 On the frozen turf of a snow-rimmed field, Utah's twice defeated Redskins became the powerful marauding monarchs of old when in an amazing comeback they toppled the unbeaten Aggies from their coveted conference pinnacle, 14 to 7. 15,000 spectators, shivering in the crisp Thanksgiving day air, saw the inspired Crimson warriors, led by a recovered cripple, "Swede" Larsen, score twice in the first three quarters, then doggedly repell the relentless drives of the shifty Farmer backfield during the remainder of the battle. Perfect interference on a seventy-four yard sustained march gave the driving Utes their first touchdown. Early in the third period, center Harold Roberts snared Ryan's flying fumble, and ran fifty yards, in the midst of a swarm of teammates, for the second score. Shining brilliantly were Larsen, "Brick" Hoggan, Aggie captain Ward, and fleet Floyd Rasmussen. A deceptive lateral pass play late in the fourth quarter carried the valiant A. C. machine to their only touchdown. FRED REEVE THORNLEY SWAN IRV JOHNSON Hardened by two years of warfare, this massive two hundred and ten pound tackle aided the Utah forward wall with impressive defensive strength. Hero of the Denver contest, this rangy wingman, with a season of play ahead of him, should prove influential in Utah's attempt to regain conference honors. The largest man on the squad, this mammoth linesman supplied the tackle positions with the reserve strength that is so important to a successful Utah offense. Two Hundred Sixty-three |
