Show a last wordFor the studentbody a yearbook servesas a record of college memories â€" for the editorand staff the yearbook has a special memory.As the year draws to an end and the cover closes aroundthe pages of the '63 Utonian, it becomes the prerogative ofthe editor to express a last word. The pressure of deadlines,the desire to produce a worthwhile record, the people who helpcreate the 399 pages of the book, all combine to make the Utonian ieditorship a thrilling, never-tO'be'forgotten experience, mm Thanksgo to all the Daves on the staff â€" Dave Allen, a business manager witha host of promotion ideas; Dave Jonsson, the head photographerwho always accepted the challenge to meet the deadline; andDave Albrand, associate photographer, who not only did a marvelousjob on the yearbook but who was also willing to do personal photographyfor other campusites. D. J. photographed color on pages 132, 133,136, 178, 179 and 376, while D. A. was color photographer for pages132,133,136,140,186,187, 370, 371, 374 and 375. Thanks also go to thesix section editors â€" Sandy Speers, who exemplified organization;Elaine Krans, a dependable staffer who had the job of alphabetizing classportraits; Ernie Witucki, a talented sports enthusiast who invaded thebusiness manager's office; Gaye Dalebout, who had that special knack of writing;Joy Marsh, a former high school friend whose job it was to send the first section topress; and Sue Browning, who enjoyed ice cream cones and special campusevents. Thanks also to Kaaren Stoker who served as art editor and to Fred McQuigg,headline editor, who pitched in and gave assistance to all phases of the book. Itwas a pleasure to work with Milt Hollstein, chairman of the Publications Council.He was a faculty advisor who could always be counted on and in whom the editorcould always confide. Thanks also goes to Jerry Sherratt, staff associate in the Deanof Student's office, who willingly gave his advice in the field of layout design.Off-campus association with Wheelwright Lithographing Co., Utonian printers,and the Village Studio and Ramon Galleria, Utonian portrait photographers,added to the yearbook composite. Color photography on pages 6 and 7 wasprovided by Ward Roylance and the Tourist and Publicity Council.Mr. Roylance was also responsible for the color photos on page 8, 9, 10and 11. The Village Studio contributed the color for page 16.The Utonian is a part of the editor's life â€" may it be a part of thestudentbody's memory. This Utonian endeavors to etch on the mind ofthe campus the picture of the University nestled at the base of thesurrounding peaks. Depicting Utah 1963, its ideas and men, thepages of the Utonian turn and tell the story of the hilltop school.As the ideas of college life influence the individual and thensoar to the heights of the surrounding crags, so this bookendeavors to display the Uteville world and its ideas andmen that match our mountains.
