Realizing the need of the foreign students to feel a part of campus life, the council appointed a foreign student to its membership, and during the traditional "Women's Week," a fashion show, presenting foreign students modeling their native dress, was instituted.AWS COUNCIL MEMBERS are (front row) Jane Wirthlin, Cammy Cole, Ann Pingree, Jody King, Christine Cannon, (row 2) Joan Snarr, Judy Mitchell, Diane Meilstrup and Vicki Cracroft.28The annual AWS-ZCMI Scholarship Fashion Show netted $3,600, more than three times as much as had previously been made. This meant 12 full-tuition scholarships could be awarded to women outstanding in activity and scholarship. AWS was headed by four elected officers and staffed with girls either selected from applications or elected by girls living in the Residence Halls. Dressed in red blazers, AWS well represented campus coeds. |
