Allen and D. M. Larsen.An antiguerilla training program was added to this year's Army ROTC schedule. Under the direction of Captain Karl Hurdle, the volunteer cadets embarked on a rigorous training slate which included instruction in the arts of self-defense and survival and highly spirited drills in physical training, such as 12-mile runs. Regular training for the cadets this year included tactical exercies at Fort Douglas.THE MARTIANS HAVE arrived! Take us to your leader! Summer camp provides a chance to try out the Army's newest gas mask. Cadets must be able to take the mask out of a pouch, put it on and have it in working order within a time of nine seconds.ALL CADETS ATTEND a summer camp between their junior and senior years in the program. Utah cadets attend camp at Fort Lewis, Wash., where they are instructed and get practical experience in use of modern weapons.UNIVERSITY CADETS RECEIVED an orientation in the use of tanks on a tactical maneuver. Tactical exercises are held at Fort Douglas. |
