Show THE GIRLS FROM Central are (front row) Nancy Fisher, Jere Brown, Bill White, king, Sheila Peterson, Sue Smith, (row 2) Karen Rynio, Judy McCorvey, Suki Smith, Judy Moore, Favell Buck, Sally Gillam, Chris Helgeson, (row 3) Katherine Tate, Orane Sowerby, president, Julie Wildig, Shirley Hunter, Rie Mitchel, Denise Dazzi and Penny Morton.Homecoming found Central teamed with Uintah and Wasatch to build a float. They captured second place for their efforts. A Holloween open house presented a spook hall in their basement, which was followed by a pajama party with Wasatch and Uintah. At Christmas Santa Claus paid a visit during their party celebrating the holidays. After returning from the vacation, they welcomed the campus to a chili feast. This was followed by more open houses and exchanges with the other dorms on campus. Besides getting together with the other dorms, the girls often did things as a unit. Chief among these were trips to the University's drama productions. Based on a theme of an old fashioned Christmas, the party fea-eured an old fashioned tree decorated with strings of popped corn. Bill Stratford was chosen as king of the floor, which the girls have since named Catty Corners. The girls prided themselves on the hominess of Catty Corners, with its birthday parties and knitting sessions. Their contribution to the WRA Carnival was a cake walk which featured home-baked cakes. Informal activities took up most of their time and included bridge games, modern dance sessions in the lounge and decorating each other's rooms. They also participated in frequent songfests which featured folk music a la Kingston Trio. |
